And she’s just my type.

I’d say I’m hardly the cute crafts found on pinterest type. I’m more of the practical type. I’ve taught myself some minor car fixes, household, fixing appliances and plumbing hacks, tips, tricks, whatever you want to call it.

So for almost two years I’ve lived in a pretty crappy studio. The first year my ceiling collapsed in multiple areas due to water damage coming from the apartment above mine. Rotting wood, holes from nails or thumbtacks everywhere, dirty carpet, worse walls, a door frame that doesn’t even fit properly. Now most people would just move out, but sadly, it’s currently not an option for me.

Well you know what, it doesn’t have to be that way. I can fix it, I can do the work, improve my apartment. I love learning new stuff and I’m not scared of some hard work. When I was job hunting (you can always apply for so many jobs, call employers, even go to interviews so long during the day and I had hours to kill. I felt completed isolated for a year and my mental state was suffering so I figured, put myself to work and get going.

I sanded all the baseboards, door frames, shelves, window frames and re-stained them. I filled all the holes and painted. I fixed the baseboard heating and cleaned them. I even purged my apartment and got rid of stuff that was just taking up space. It felt amazing and I felt accomplished.

But these aren’t the hacks I’m here to share. I’m here to share the three hacks/DIY that made a huge difference. They actually worked,

First, I did the more well known toothpaste on headlights to clean them. Applied the toothpaste (whitening works best) with a toothbrush and did a little scrubbing. I even put it on my tail lights. While that sat I worked on hack #2.

Second, removing scuffs on my car. When I lived at my last place, I had to park on the street most times. Well, after an overnight while I slept, someone backed into my drivers side. Insurance totaled my car out and I bought it back. Aside from cosmetic damage and such, It just needed it’s alignment adjustment. I did some googling about scuffs on cars and how to get it off and I found what I needed!

If you have a scuff of paint either from an accident, door ding, whatever. Spray a tiny bit of WD-40 on it (I recommend putting it on a rag and wiping it on), then using a wet, wrung out magic eraser scrub the scuff until it’s gone, buff with a microfiber cloth. Make sure to use some soap and water to make sure to remove the WD-40.

Make your own carpet cleaner. It works better than the kind I was buying and much cheaper! I was buying the carpet cleaning solution and I know it was working but I felt like it wasn’t working the best it possible could. So I took some of my favorite products, mixed them together and it does such an amazing job!

I’ll share the ingredients with you, I don’t measure each thing out, I just eyeball it but I don’t think the ratio would matter much. To make your own carpet cleaner you’ll need: LA Totally Awesome cleaner, LA Totally Awesome Oxygen cleaner (basically oxyclean), laundry detergent, fabric softener, LA Totally Awesome Carpet stain remover, and a but if vinegar. All of my products can be purchased at Dollar Tree, I bought a few of each cleaner for backup so I spent around $11 (I bought the detergent elsewhere but dollar tree carries laundry detergent.

I thought I would add one more little DIY project, in case you were interested. Making your own dry erase board for cheap. To make mine, I went to Dollar Tree and bought a picture frame and some wrapping paper in a color I like. Cut the paper to fit, stick inside the frame and viola! You just made your own dry erase board. If you want a fancier frame, you can buy whatever picture frame and size you choose!

So those are my hacks, The last one was super fun, it was like playing mad scientist. Anyway, I hope these help you! They worked great for me! Have an amazing day!

Vibe Higher,

Lobeless
